Love When You Fo-orce Breaks

Vicente Soria de Veyra was a intermittent drop-out from top universities in the Philippines – UP Visayas, UP Manila and Silliman University in Dumaguete City. Despite this, he is a famous writer of short stories and poems in Leyte, a contributor for National Midweek and a stage director for plays of exotic and socio-political subjects. The poem basically tells the readers that when you force love to happen, it breaks. This also has a remarkable structure as it compliments the title of the poem; the lines in the poem are actually broken.The poem is meaningful to me because it speaks of the the consequence that may happen when love gets so intense.

nd quickly dries, summ-

valentine and then,
define your ever-
y dinner. Lo-
ve is wet
in rain
y walks
and love;
is dry in si-
lver-dower : it’s
best when love is li-
fe itself, as weak in bo-
ne as every chowder. As tr-
uly fine shall be its tast-
e, if not its every savour.
Life is good if we can wait
before our time is over, for
then you’ll see your eve-
ry walk as part of time’s d-
esires in glasses’ bowers.
